Hon. Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior: A Visionary Leader at the Helm of Ika South Local Government Council

Since the inception of the present administration in Delta State, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the people of Ika South Local Government Area have witnessed a new era of leadership and development under the guidance of their Chairman, Comrade Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior. Young, intelligent, vibrant, and resourceful, Jerry Ehiwarior’s leadership has been hailed as a blessing to the local government and its people.

Upon his appointment as Commissioner for Power and Energy last year, his role in the state executive council was celebrated as a remarkable achievement for Ika South. His brief yet impactful tenure brought renewed hope to the area, particularly to the youth and women, the backbone of the local government’s population.

Born in August into the Ehiwarior family of Ekuku-Agbor, Agbor, Delta State, Jerry Ehiwarior is a graduate of the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, where he earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Engineering, specializing in Electronics and Telecommunications. As a certified member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and a Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development, Jerry has continually proven his worth in the political and technical spheres.

His political journey began during his time at the University of Benin, where he distinguished himself in student leadership, ultimately serving as Secretary of the National Association of Ika Students (NAIS) UNIBEN Chapter, and later as National President of the organization. His passion for grassroots politics, coupled with his relentless drive, saw him become a prominent figure in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). His grassroots mobilization skills played a pivotal role in PDP’s success in Ika South over the years.

Prior to becoming Chairman, Jerry Ehiwarior served as Special Assistant on Students Affairs and later Senior Special Assistant on Students Affairs to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. His strong leadership and ability to manage human and material resources prompted Governor Oborevwori to appoint him Commissioner for Power and Energy in August of the previous year. During his time as Commissioner, Jerry Ehiwarior’s performance was widely recognized, earning him praise as one of the most effective political office holders of the current administration.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions and leadership potential, the PDP unanimously endorsed Comrade Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior as the party’s flag bearer in the Ika South Local Government Council election held on July 13. His emergence as Chairman has brought peace, unity, and hope to the local government. Known for his humility, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the development of Ika South, he enjoys the wholehearted support of his people.

Under his leadership, the future of Ika South is bright. Comrade Jerry Ehiwarior is set to drive the area toward greater progress, ensuring that the aspirations of his people are met. His tenure as Chairman marks the dawn of a new chapter of growth and prosperity for Ika South.
