Ehiwarior Reaffirms Commitment To Teachers In Ika South LGA

The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, Tuesday, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of primary school teachers in the local government area.

Speaking at Agbor, while declaring open a two-day “Capacity Building Seminar/Training” organized by Ika South Local Government Education Authority, Ehiwarior emphasised the critical role primary school teachers play in the live and educational journey of every individual.

He maintained that primary school was instrumental to the development and advancement of any society, and stressed that Nigeria stands to gain immensely from adequate investment in basic education.

The Chairman disclosed that his administration had continued to commit enormous resources in support of the welfare of primary school teachers in the area, citing the workshop as one of the ways through which the council was reshaping them for enhanced learning, and productivity of the children.

Ehiwarior, while assuring that his administration would remain supportive of primary school teachers in the area, urged them to be more dedicated to their duty.

“You must ensure you are at your duty post early and regularly; impacting the right knowledge and values in our children. You should see the pupils as your children, ensuring that they are well taken care of while in the school environment. Raising the children is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders including parents and teachers,” he stressed.

He commended the LEA Secretary, Comrade Mathew Anyia, for the achievements recorded within the short period in office, and encouraged him to continue to maintain the tempo for higher outputs.

Ehiwarior, used the opportunity to appreciate the Delta State Government for upgrading the College of Education, Agbor, to the current University of Delta, Agbor, an action he noted, have had tremendous positive social and economics impacts beyond Ika Land.

In his welcome address, the Ika South Local Area Education Secretary, Comrade Mathew Anyia, applauded Engr. Ehiwarior for ensuring that primary school teachers in Ika South Local Government Area, are well equipped to better to teach and serve as guardians to the pupils.

He disclosed that the training became necessary to ensure standardization in the global Education system, and complement the efforts of Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB.

The event was attended by critical stakeholders in the education sector in Ika South Local Government Area, including member representing Ika South Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Festus Okoh, palace chiefs, security agencies, among others.
